Gingival gum recession around an old dental crown can result in tooth sensitivity. This can make teeth very sensitive to touch, air and/or hot & cold liquids. Improper use of a toothbrush is one of the most common causes of sensitive teeth! Dental treatment depends upon the severity of the subjective symptoms and can range from: 1) doing nothing and reevaluating, 2) using desensitizing agents, 3) periodontal gum surgery to raise the gums around the tooth or 4) remaking the tooth crown with or without root canal therapy.
