Removable Dental Braces Before and After Photos.
This patient underwent orthodontic treatment for twelve months with an Orthodontist. At the end of treatment the front teeth were reshaped by a Cosmetic Dentist to create symmetrical teeth shape and size. People should consider straightening their teeth with dental braces before beginning cosmetic dentistry.

The patient had porcelain tooth veneers and noticed craze lines or small cracks on her two maxillary canines. The patient was previously informed that she should wear a bite plate in order to prevent fracture of the veneers (since she was a grinder) but the patient declined. Alginate impressions and photos were taken. The veneers on the maxillary canines were carefully removed and the teeth were cleaned. Impressions were taken and sent to the lab to fabricate new veneers for this case. The patient was concerned about how the temporaries would look and if they would be the right shade. Temporaries were made with Luxatemp directly added to the facial surface of the canines. The patient was satisfied with the shade and shape of the temporaries. Her new veneers will be completed and inserted in 5 days.

Porcelain Veneers in Cosmetic Dentistry are typically only about 1 millimeter thick (the thickness of several pieces of paper). Therefore, minimal tooth structure is removed for their placement. The results can be quite dramatic.

Today a female patient came in for insertion and cementation of veneers from #4-14. Previously the patient had veneers from #6-11, which she was satisfied with, but she wanted a full new set of upper veneers completed to make her smile beautiful. At the last visit the current veneers on #6-11 were removed and #4-14 were prepped and temped. At this visit the temporaries were removed by cutting them down the mid-facial aspect with a bur. Incipient decay was removed on teeth # 4, 12, 13, and 14. The veneers were tried in and shown to the patient before cementation, and the patient was quite satisfied with the shape, size, and color. The veneers were the cemented in with Nexus Base Clear, a very esthetic cement. Occlusion and esthetics were checked. She will return later for mandibular veneers.

Figure 2. The teeth prepped for veneers. Minimal preparation is needed.

Today, a number of new dental patients were seen in the practice. The most interesting case was a Wall Street gentleman who was 4 weeks away from his wedding date. Although he was looking for a permanent fix for his teeth which were malpositioned, he also wanted something quick in order to meet the deadline of his wedding date. He was apprehensive of making a quick and independent decision because he didn’t want to choose an option for the sake of his wedding which would prevent him from being able to ultimately restore his teeth. In the end a quick fix was offered which would also allow him to continue with permanent care after his wedding. It is also important to note that this patient had neglected previous orthodontic treatment, so it is worthy to make a note of it in an informed consent, in case patient compliance becomes an issue later on.
